Anya turns 10 in Hollywood!

We started today with present opening over breakfast. Next, a little guitar hero on the Nintendo DS (thank you Grandma Anita and Grandpa John) followed by some i-Carley action (thank you Meila) and then we surveyed everyone we could find to figure out the best place to spend our day..

Happy Birthday to Anya, in Hollywood,California! After 5 trips to Shriner's, we have finally seen something besides the hospital and the airport. We took a taxi from the hospital to Hollywood Boulevard and spent several hours taking it all in. We saw The Hollywood Sign (above), the Grauman Chinese Theater where they were getting ready for a movie premier for The Expendables (below) It was quite a production with half of road closed, lights and cameras set up for half a block, the press roping off areas, and that was 6 hours before it was to start.

I was excited to find both John Travolta's star and his hand/footprints in front of the Chinese Theater and later Anya was excited to finally find a star of someone she had actually heard of before (below)

We rounded out the day with a little shopping, Anya style, ending at Build-a-Bear Workshop where Anya made and dressed a beautiful fluffy dog she named Lucky. Lucky was named after Anya's favorite visiting dog here at Shriners, a sweet black lab that loves getting her belly rubbed.
We returned back to our hospital room to find a mystery gift and balloon left for Anya..I think the balloon says Happy Birthday in Spanish?? Unfortunately, that wasn't one of our Lotteria words from earlier this week.
